Environment

Tenaris’s environmental policy is based upon the principle of sustainable development.

Following the introduction of our Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Policy we have been working on the implementation of an integrated Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management system. The management system is a set of processes and practices that help Tenaris in constantly improving its environmental performance.

This management system follows the guidelines of international standards such as ISO 14000 and OHSA 18000, applying eco-efficiency and integral safety concepts throughout the system, from product design and industrial investment up to operations and logistics. The integrated system is under implementation in four major facilities.

Tenaris adheres to worldwide sustainability principles and guidelines developed for the steel industry, such as:

Investment in New Processes and Products: Innovation is crucial for long-term industrial projects, therefore Tenaris has established an Investment Master Plan to revamp all its mills and improve its processes and products.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions:Tenaris supports the industry’s search for innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the life-cycle of steel products.

Material Efficiency and Energy Intensity: Tenaris continually reviews its operations to maximize the efficiency of energy resources, the re-use of by-products and the appropriate treatment and disposal of waste, emissions and effluents.

Steel Recycling: Steel can be recycled, but more importantly its proprieties can be saved and re-used.

Employee training: Tenaris has created TenarisUniversity, a corporate university that looks to continuously offer training to all employees on a global level. Education is a fundamental tool for achieving improvements in sustainability in the long term.
